SHS CLASS 1958 50th YEAR REUNION CHATTER

Celebrate Our Significant Milestone of Fifty Years...
Springfield High School Commencement June 5, 1958
WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING CLASS GIFT DONATIONS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1, 2008.
OUR CLASS' GENEROSITY HAS BEEN NOTEWORTHY AND THE SPRINGFIELD CITY SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT WANTS IT PRINTED IN THE NEWS-SUN. A DONATION IS A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY A PART IN THE NEW SHS. PLEASE READ DETAILS BELOW.

We are proud of our Springfield, Ohio roots and value SHS's first-rate education, leadership standards, and service opportunities we received, all of which launched us on our various paths through life. Five decades later we are what we are with one common thread still connecting us...members of the SHS CLASS OF 1958. One great school then but in 1960, one became two...Springfield High and Springfield North. Time changes everything and once again there will be one newly built Springfield High School opening its doors this fall (2008.)It is located on the old Springfield North site; school colors are gold and blue; its mascot the Wildcat.
Your Reunion Committee has researched the importance of a monetary "Class Gift" to celebrate our 50th and discovered that the new SHS offers our class a "golden" opportunity...an opportunity to connect with future generations of Springfield High School through a collaborative initiative of Springfield City Schools, Westcott House Foundation, Wittenberg University, and Master Gardener Volunteers of Clark County.
At this time, a project is in the development phase with the above-named groups; the project is called The Springfield High School Landscape and Gardens Curriculum Project. One outcome of the Project is the development and continuing maintenance of landscaping and gardens for the new Springfield High School. Students and teachers and even community groups will be able to use the landscaped courtyard setting in many academic areas. A concerted effort is being made to connect North/South students, faculties, and yes, alumni from dear "old" Springfield High like US, to each other and to "new Springfield High.
The Reunion Committee designated that funds collected for the Class Gift be donated entirely to the Springfield High School Landscape and Gardens Curriculum Project with the understanding that the SHS Class of 1958 be credited for the gift. The Gift will be used to enhance the Project; it could be a tree or a bench etc. depending upon how much money is raised. Celebrate this important milestone in our lives by helping to connect the past to the future.

Thank you in advance for your gift,
The Class of '58 Reunion Committee
