New Springfield High School Tour:

Lead by Bob Cawley at 10:00 a.m. (site of old North High.) Bob has had a bit of a struggle arranging the tour, but all is in place now for your viewing. Please Note! It is still a hard hat area and these strict rules apply:
No open-toed shoes (sandals, flip flops etc.)
Wear hard hat (for your hard head.) Provided.
NOT handicapped accessible.
Must comply or you won't get in.
Meet at the Service Building (old building on the right) at 9:45 a.m. Be prepared for a lot of walking.

GARDEN TOUR AT THE
Where? Clark Co. Extension Office, 4400 Gateway Boulevard, Springfield, Rt. 41 in the Industrial Park (near the  Fairgrounds) Gardens are located behind the Ag Agencies Building located on the left.

When? (guided tour) 10:00 a.m. But you may visit anytime.

What? The Gateway Learning Gardens are maintained by the Master Gardeners of Clark County for the benefit of educating the community in good garden practices. Field trials of up and coming annuals, many of which have not yet reached retailers, are on display as well as perennial beds, an herb garden, phenology garden, Early Ohio Settlers garden, and other visual delights. Three of our own classmates, Marcia Kelley Roberts, Becky Wells Sirons, and Deanne Schwartz Rucker are MG's. Becky will be on hand Saturday morning as your garden quide showing you one of the best places to visit in your hometown. (Pictured below.)

6:30-7:30 p.m. Social Hour (Cash Bar)

7:30-8:30      Buffet Dinner

8:30-9:30      Class Photo and Welcome

9:30-12:30a.m. Dance, Memory Lane, Door Prizes

Sunday...Leisurely Brunch at historic The Woman's Town Club, 805 East High Street. (Pictured below.) Built in 1852, the mansion is one of the oldest homes in Springfield. Go to www.womanstownclub.com

Coffee at 10:30 a.m. and brunch at 11:00.

  • The Heritage Center "It's Like Having Your Very Own Time Machine." Located in old City Building, 117 South Fountain Avenue www.heritagecenter.us 
  • "Visit the only Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie Style House in Ohio!" Springfield's own Westcott House, (pictured below) opened its doors to visitors in 2005, after a $5.8 million,5 year restoration. www.westcotthouse.org 
  • Pennsylvania House "The Inn at the End of the Pike." Recent $1 million restoration. Explore some of Springfield's past during visiting hours Saturdays & Sundays, 1:00-3:00 p.m. www.restorespringfield.org/Penn
  • New baseball stadium, site of old Municipal Stadium, made possible by the Carlton Davidson (yes, the Davidson Chevrolet man) Foundation. It is home to local Baseball Hall of Fame where one of our own, Jack Merritt, is a member. Log on to National Trail Parks and Recreation District www.ntprd.org and check out the possibilites.
  • Take note of the statues seen about Springfield...Tecumseh standing near the Art Center in Cliff Park, (and while you're in Cliff Park, take a look at the newly built amphitheater) Clementine Buchwalter in her yard at Woman's Town Club, venue for the brunch, 805 E. High St., George Rogers Clark, downtown and more.
  • Make sure you visit Center City (of course it's not the same downtown we knew 50 years ago) but the hanging baskets will be beautiful thanks to the Master Gardeners and National Trail Parks joint effort and the real fountain on the Esplanade on Fountain Avenue is an added bonus. There's a statue there too.
